{"id":1591,"date":"2021-10-12T14:45:14","date_gmt":"2021-10-12T14:45:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mycours.es\/ems\/?page_id=1591"},"modified":"2022-04-14T13:40:42","modified_gmt":"2022-04-14T13:40:42","slug":"assignment-shooting-video","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/mycours.es\/ems\/assignment-shooting-video\/","title":{"rendered":"Assignment: Shooting Video"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Assignment:<\/strong> in groups of two, create a video piece using original footage but no acting nor voiceover.<br \/>\nPick a bus line to document and film various locations till the end of the line.<br \/>\nWork in groups of 2 or 3, shooting together and editing individually.<br \/>\nDuration 1-3min<\/p>\n<p>Each group will be assigned a specific piece of video equipment:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1q_-kk5gMwx1SdpNwzlG0xXODNFTpmILR4gZGfHFvU_8\/edit#gid=1955068449\">These are the groups and the equipment items<\/a><br \/>\n<strong>In addition to the equipment and the camera you will have to book a tripod.<\/strong><br \/>\nYour goal is to familiarize with the equipment and explore its possibilities.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pay special attention to composition and light, produce professional footage.<\/li>\n<li>Go on a shooting session around the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=golden+hour+pittsburgh&amp;rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS910US910&amp;oq=golden+hour+pi&amp;aqs=chrome.0.0i512l4j69i57j0i512l5.4582j0j7&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\">golden hour<\/a> for better lighting<\/li>\n<li>Make sure all shots include some kind of movement that is not a camera movement.<\/li>\n<li>Not EVERYTHING has to be shot with that particular piece of equipment\/technique<\/li>\n<li><strong>Avoid shooting on campus and in the dorms.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t rely on camera movement unless you have proper equipment.<\/li>\n<li>No shooting at night or in the dark &#8211; unless you have a light kit<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t point your camera directly to the sun<\/li>\n<li>Make an art piece not a tech demo of your assigned equipment<\/li>\n<li>Let everybody in the team use the camera, not only the more &#8220;technical&#8221; members<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Dates<\/h2>\n<p>Thursday March 17 &#8211; work day &#8211; book all the equipment and come up with ideas to discuss in class<br \/>\n8 am screenings \/ brainstorm theme<br \/>\n9 am equipment room opens &#8211; film a test \/ proof of concept<br \/>\n10.30 am back to class to show what you filmed<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday March 22 &#8211; all video is shot &#8211; editing day in the lab<\/p>\n<p>Thursday March 24 &#8211; due date &#8211; each student has their own edit<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don&#8217;t like the bus prompt? Here&#8217;s some other possible strategies:<\/strong><br \/>\n&gt; Formal: come up with a constraints that restrict what can appear on the screen, how you shoot, or how you link sequences together.
