{"id":174,"date":"2012-08-30T02:06:48","date_gmt":"2012-08-30T02:06:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/?page_id=174"},"modified":"2012-11-08T14:36:40","modified_gmt":"2012-11-08T14:36:40","slug":"assignment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/48-2\/assignment\/","title":{"rendered":"Assignment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Write a branching story with one or more of the following features:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Non-human (or better, non-animal) main character<\/li>\n<li>Events out of chronological order<\/li>\n<li>Multiple characters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Possibly avoid:<\/strong> dialog-centric stories (it\u2019s the next assignment), life choices, choose your own adventure tropes (moving, fighting, dying etc.).<\/p>\n<h1>PART I (Due Tuesday 4)<\/h1>\n<p>Post two ideas for this project.<\/p>\n<p>Write the the first paragraph and (at least) a couple of examples of choices for each of the potential projects.<\/p>\n<p>If you are planning to include visuals, produce (at east) one illustration\/animation as example.<\/p>\n<p>You can already start looking into Twine but for the proposal just use our blog here.<\/p>\n<h1>PART II (Due Tuesday 11)<\/h1>\n<p>Write (and illustrate) your story using Twine.<br \/>\nPost it in your personal web space and post a link in the blog.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday is going to be a work day but you don&#8217;t have much time so scale the project according to the time constraint.<\/p>\n<h1>PART III (Due Tuesday 11)<\/h1>\n<p>Read at least 10 of your classmates work and post a comment on the blog with constructive criticism, impressions and suggestions.<\/p>\n<h1>Recommendations<\/h1>\n<p>Try to limit each block of text to one or two paragraphs<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t provide many choices, provide interesting choices<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t just think about the content, think about how it could be narrated:<br \/>\nspatial?<br \/>\nmetaphysical?<br \/>\npuzzle?<br \/>\nself-aware \/ self referential?<br \/>\nfist, second, third person?<br \/>\nmultiple endings?<br \/>\nmultiple beginnings?<br \/>\nDo you control an avatar?<br \/>\nDoes it have graphics?
