{"id":965,"date":"2012-09-18T22:22:27","date_gmt":"2012-09-18T22:22:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/?p=965"},"modified":"2012-09-18T22:39:30","modified_gmt":"2012-09-18T22:39:30","slug":"character-design-will-crownover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/2012\/09\/18\/character-design-will-crownover\/","title":{"rendered":"Character Design &#8211; Will Crownover"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/files\/2012\/09\/Character_1_0.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-968\" src=\"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/files\/2012\/09\/Character_1_0.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"605\" height=\"362\" srcset=\"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/files\/2012\/09\/Character_1_0.jpg 605w, http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/files\/2012\/09\/Character_1_0-300x179.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 605px) 100vw, 605px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Idea 1 &#8211; This was the first character face that came to me as I began my work. \u00a0I wanted an expressive robot that used hinges and joints to move parts of the face around. \u00a0I dont consider this the final look if I worked with this idea. \u00a0I dont have an interaction in mind for it yet. \u00a0Perhaps the interaction could be either assembly or\u00a0disassembly\u00a0of the robot to help it find the perfect expression. \u00a0Advice on how to make it more expressive or more hinge and joint reliant would be useful.<\/p>\n<p>Outcomes: The robot has found the perfect expression with your help OR You leave the robot&#8217;s face horribly scarred and disfigured.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/files\/2012\/09\/brain-Character-1_0.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-971\" src=\"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/files\/2012\/09\/brain-Character-1_0.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/files\/2012\/09\/brain-Character-1_0.jpg 800w, http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/files\/2012\/09\/brain-Character-1_0-300x187.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Idea 2 &#8211; The second idea I had was interacting with a brain hooked up to a simple emotion display unit, which is just a smily face on a screen. \u00a0For this interaction I wanted to explore a character that in normal\u00a0circumstances\u00a0would be very intimidating but now reduced to just its thoughts and a\u00a0dumbed\u00a0down face, how does this change the players interaction with the character. \u00a0One idea I had was this brain once was a criminal master mind and is now being preserved and\u00a0interrogated\u00a0in order to fix the criminals last scheme. \u00a0Any other suggestions on an intimidating character mind would be helpful.<\/p>\n<p>Outcomes: \u00a0Solve\u00a0the crime by\u00a0successfully\u00a0interrogating\u00a0the brain OR The brain perishes because it took to long to get it to talk.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/files\/2012\/09\/Judgmental-Buddha-1_0.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-974\" src=\"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/files\/2012\/09\/Judgmental-Buddha-1_0.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/files\/2012\/09\/Judgmental-Buddha-1_0.jpg 1000w, http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2012\/files\/2012\/09\/Judgmental-Buddha-1_0-300x180.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Idea 3 &#8211; A\u00a0guardian\u00a0bodhisattva has returned to the world to help you find the path to enlightenment. \u00a0The problem, it is rather judgmental of your choices in life. \u00a0Through a series of questions and interactions with the\u00a0bodhisattva\u00a0enlightenment\u00a0can be revealed to you. \u00a0How many lives will you have to live in order to reach the ultimate state of\u00a0nonexistence. Or will you frustrate your guide to the point of abandonment. \u00a0This character would use color and sound to respond to the players choices revealing either\u00a0progress\u00a0or frustration.
