{"id":266,"date":"2013-09-07T20:08:57","date_gmt":"2013-09-07T20:08:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2013\/?page_id=266"},"modified":"2013-09-11T20:08:36","modified_gmt":"2013-09-11T20:08:36","slug":"assignment-one-button-prototype","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2013\/assignment-one-button-prototype\/","title":{"rendered":"Assignment: One Button Prototype"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Make a prototype for a one button game, the general theme will be randomly assigned to your group (2 people).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It must <strong>not<\/strong> be a standard runner like Canabalt etc.<\/li>\n<li>The software part <strong>must be playable<\/strong>: the core mechanics have to be there in some form, not just abstract ideas.<\/li>\n<li>The visuals can be placeholders, but if so create a mock-up of a screenshot that give an idea of the final look and feel.<\/li>\n<li>The hardware can and should be non-standard: the switch can be integrated into a sculpture, it can be something you step on, a soft switch you wear, put in your mouth, or hit with something, it can be placed in a specific place and time, etc. Think expansively about both input and output, this is not a product that has to hit the shelves. If technically challenging the hardware part can just be sketched.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid one liners like fart-button apps, you want to make something with some degree of depth, something that can be played multiple times.<\/li>\n<li>It can be multiplayer game.<\/li>\n<li>For testing purposes let&#8217;s all agree that the button is mapped on the <strong>SPACE<\/strong> keystroke.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Besides the examples we saw in class you can check this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/feature\/130728\/one_button_games.php?print=1\" target=\"_blank\">old article<\/a> for inspiration.<\/p>\n<p>Post an entry on the blog with a screenshot, all the info, and a link to the prototype.<\/p>\n<h1>Due date Wednesday 18.<\/h1>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Make a prototype for a one button game, the general theme will be randomly assigned to your group (2 people).
