{"id":1599,"date":"2021-09-15T13:58:34","date_gmt":"2021-09-15T13:58:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2021\/?page_id=1599"},"modified":"2021-11-18T16:01:26","modified_gmt":"2021-11-18T16:01:26","slug":"assignment-narrative-design","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/mycours.es\/gamedesign2021\/assignment-narrative-design\/","title":{"rendered":"Assignment: narrative design"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Create a narrative prototype of your game in Ink\/Inky.<\/p>\n<p>It has to be playable in its entirety: all the areas, characters, chapters, endings, have to be there.<br \/>\n(it must also function as an asset list)<\/p>\n<p>It can and should contain placeholder content: you can have a passage that says: &#8220;poignant dialogue with the mother in which she reveals the protagonist is an alien&#8221; or &#8220;breath taking vista of Emerald City&#8221; or just quickly written stuff.<\/p>\n<p>Avoid generic and heavy lifting placeholders like &#8220;clever puzzle&#8221; or &#8220;minigame&#8221; unless you already have a specific design for them.<\/p>\n<p>Sketch it out on miro and\/or google docs as a team before implementing it in Ink.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some questions for the critique\/playtest:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What was your experience like, emotionally and intellectually. Did you get a sense of the themes?<\/p>\n<p>Where you stuck or confused at any point?<\/p>\n<p>In the interest of limiting the scope as much as possible, are the parts that are not strictly necessary?<\/p>\n<p>Are there parts that are definitely missing?<\/p>\n<p>Where there moments in which you wish you had more agency or options?<\/p>\n<p>Are there parts that could be communicated by &#8220;showing&#8221;, eg. through environmental storytelling?<\/p>\n<p>Any other feedback?
