  1. I laughed while playing this.

I wish that I could have received a reward after killing 100 sewer rats. It seems like it would be nice if there is an Easter egg for killing an Exorbitant amount of rats or the game should stop me after I kill 10.

The story seemed rather linear. I could not find a way to significantly deviate the story.

    1. I killed 1000 sewer rats!

  2. The play is tedious. But the tediousness is interesting in this game because I am curious about what will happen next. I consider the game as an irony to RPG games. In that case, I would suggest give players more surprise before taking him to the end. For example, I get a sword, then every time, I can kill 2 rats!

  3. This had a vibe similar to Candy Box, but in a much more satirical way. I very much enjoyed the killing of sewer rats and baking muffins, but I think you should have kept the gimmick for the entire game (e.g. The dragon has 100 HP. You deal 1 damage to it. The dragon has 99 HP.) Of course, this requires a good balance of humor to offset the tedium, but I think there is a lot of potential here.

  4. Really enjoy the 4th wall/meta breaking aspect of this one. Reminds me of an old ass web game called Kingdom of Loathing that kinda blew up at my middle school. I wish it had some alternative forks like some RPGs do, even though you still had the classic next-level-up-super-boss-who-is-boss-of-the-boss character. Which just makes you replay the game again like a lot of RPGs have options to do already.

  5. +1 can kill NPCs
    – more NPC interaction would be great. Just more quests in general

    1. There was originally a whole very large side quest where you become the baker. Unfortunately, my computer ate it :(. Part of it’s still here, although I may have made it too hard to reach.

  6. This game is hilarious. I actually killed 300 rats during my first quest, so I’m with Bryce about Easter eggs for doing dumb crap like that. I also agree that the tediousness should’ve been kept through the whole game, including the boss fight, but overall I really liked it.

I wish I’d become that baker. If your computer ever coughs up that side quest, let me know.

  7. Ha, I see what you did there.

Charming commentary on the tediousness of “real life” and what it means to make computer games more “realistic”.

  8. Haha this game was very nostalgic to me. Funny to see intelligence try and break the mold of typical RPG grab n go loot quests. Also annoying that these quests are still prevalent in modern RPG’s. I found the movement of the buttons for baking to be genius because it forces you to adapt making the activity more bothersome. Having it loop made me desperately want to figure out a way to end the game. My only wish is that you made the fight with the dragon more frames so that it felt substantial before meeting the creator. I realize this would kind of ruin the point, but selfishly I want RPG killing glory.

    1. Thanks! I actually moved the buttons during baking, because the major divergent branch to become the baker starts when you try to complete the baking quest without having baked 10 cupcakes, but people were zooming through so they didn’t see the early end option.

  9. This game made me sad about playing Borderlands and Destiny. Oh well. Fun game, excellent commentary on the grinding and pointlessness of common RPGs. I would agree with the comment to add more interaction with NPCs.

  10. This game is hilarious. Usually I actually enjoy grinding but when you put it this way it really shows how ridiculous some of the mundane tasks you’re required to do in games are. Still…is it a problem that I really enjoyed this game…got kill those sewer rats!

  11. I don’t play rpgs but I feel like I have now, based on the comments. It seems to make fun of the triviality of quests, but mostly i just found the repetition funny. Several of the responses didn’t take you anywhere so you were siphoned into a certain action…. which then also proved to be pointless and cyclic. I enjoyed it:)

  12. Updates!
Easter egg for those who kill a lot of rat
A new Baker side plot and ending
Increased gameplay time of fighting the dragon
