1. Read this excerpt form Ruha Benjamin’s Race After Technology.
It’s from the introduction of the book so it provides a general overview of the topics, lays down some terminology, and mentions a lot of case studies and contemporary debates.
Choose something referenced by Benjamin that catches your attention, research it independently and write a short post on discord about it. It can be a particular a concept (eg. Technological determinism), an author or book (eg. The New Jim Crow). Look for something that you didn’t know about and that your classmates are unlikely to be familiar with (like, not Facebook).
