1- Read these three (older) articles:

Invasive Diffusion: How one unwilling illustrator found herself turned into an AI model

2- Read one or more articles of your choice pertaining AI from this collection:

3- Ask chatGPT to write a response essay about the assigned texts and your chosen one.

4- Afterwards, write a response essay that does the same without using any AI tools.

5- Post both essays in a shared google doc without specifying which one is which, and post the link in #assignments.
In class we will see who can guess which one is “real.

Some starting points for the essay:
Is machine learning going to replace visual artists?
What are the ethical dilemmas raised by AI tools?
Can neural networks enhance your creative process?
Should AI generated images be banned from certain communities and practices?
How could AI image generation platforms be less exploitative toward living artists?
What new art movements and styles could emerge as a result of (or reaction to) these technologies?

In class we’ll make a map of critical issues related to Generative AI
