Pressures

Play as the protagonist who is encountering all the pressures that come along with becoming an adult. As you’ll learn, sometimes it’s difficult to choose between being accepted and doing what’s right for you but no matter how many wrong decisions you make, remember there’s always a way out.

This game examines young adults from a very extreme, stereotypical view point.

Still adding features:
I have a few more interactions to add in a couple of rooms
and an “acceptance” counter. But here’s what I have so far.

  1. When I opened it I got a fatal error and a crash 🙁

    1. me too, it says:
      FATAL ERROR in
      action number 1
of Collision Event with object obj_sorority
      for object obj_talktopuckingguy:

      COMPILATION ERROR in code action.
Error in code at line 4:
      quick_dialog(“Or I don’t get to wrestle.”);

at position 1: Symbol , or ) expected.

    2. I got the same error 🙁

  2. This game is quite fascinating, but I wasn’t quite sure what was happening. I love the strange black & white masked character who says these disturbing things. He reminds me of the rabbit in Donnie Darko. The combination of cute pixelly sprites and abstract unfinished landscapes worked well together to give a weird otherworldly feeling.

One bug you might want to fix is that the first time you talk to the masked character, you keep touching her if you try to move away and the dialogue keeps looping. I had to restart the game at that point.

  3. There were points when it looked like there were doors that led to other rooms (on the bottom of the room with the black tiles) but it led nowhere. 🙁 The movement was a bit slow. I really like your graphics, though! Very bright and clean looking. I liked the masked character that you could talk and the dialogue was eerie. I feel like I’m missing part of the game – I just walked straight down the hallway and got to ‘anything is possible’? Are there other endings?

  4. I’m assuming the game ends when you get the “anything is possible” screen? I tried going through different doors but I would usually end up with a dead-end. The entire game has this really eerie feeling with the stereotypically cute sprites (minus that one black and white guy) and the music. I was disappointed that there wasn’t more to interact with though.

  5. Interesting concept. I do think there needs to be more interactions or maybe choices within the dialogue. I kept encountering an error where the first line of dialogue would show up really fast then disappear to the next line to quickly. I played through multiple endings. The marriage one was strange. None of the characters had anything to say. Could there be a different way to represent dealing with getting older and taking on more responsibilities? Good job overall!

  6. Got it to work! This game confused me a bit and the walking animation was a bit weird. I think it had an interesting premise but it didn’t carry through the game well. I agree with Jessica, it feels like I am missing part of the game. I like that the music changes, it really changes the the mood. Your art also seems to differ a lot. You look like you have for the most part a homemade environment and some homemade characters but some of them look taken from a source. I would have liked to see everything be a bit smoother.
