  1. Hey will. I really like the pace of the game. It is slow. Some might see it as a barrier but I think that the exploration of the game is accentuated by it. I want to see more involved character actions, though. I believe that it seems a little static (I cannot say much as I couldn’t get my sprite to even run) and that a variety of movements and a more fluid capture of motion would help the game progress.

  2. I agree with Nathan, the slow pace really establish more of the experience. The process of finding oneself is not meant to be quick and easy, i suppose. The imagery is pretty nice, and i especially like what you’ve done with the ‘inverse images.’ there are some bugs that limit motion and make progressing almost a painful process, but that could be part of it?

    1. sorry to be more specific, there are sections where, once you move into them, you can only move by pressing one direction over and over again to inch forward pixel by pixel. also: your transitions are nice

  3. I like the narrative behind it and the visual story style of gameplay (the pyramid of nega-selves is cool). I think the whole bildungsroman genre, “finding yourself,” and “pave your own path” kind of theme is seen too often, and your story definitely has room for expansion to make it more personal.

  4. Stellar animation, got that chill mozy which brings you to crazy new places. Though i wasnt sure what floating block was, or what teleported me to places. I felt as though I was watching the game play itself more than I was playing the game. Good start!

  5. I have mixed reviews about your game. The music is soothing and reflective which I can tell that is exactly what you want from your game. The voice acting was pretty good although you did catch static in the background which I noticed. What you had to say was also interesting. I just wish the beginning was a bit faster paced. I also think I broke it a few times by pressing the arrow keys even though the character clearly didn’t want to go that way. Over all your pictures were good and fit with the whole theme but your character clashed with that theme because it was so pixelated. Overall interesting and worthwhile to play though.

    1. I guess I should explain a bit more. The slow pace was mainly my fault because I kept on not triggering the next sequence, I do like the slower pace overall though, fits with the theme.

  6. Movement was the biggest problem for me, but like others said, it does set the mood of the game. (My biggest problem was the lack of a proper moving up sprite as I didn’t know if I was supposed to go to the top of the mountain or if I was breaking the game.) I really liked the use of voice over rather than standard text as it suits the game’s theme more. (Also, the voice over was well done and not cringe-worthy.)

  7. I love the music and narration. Although the visuals weren’t polished, they worked very well for some reason in this context. I agree that I felt like the game was running by itself rather than me playing it, which I thought detracted a little from the experience.

  8. I walked off the screen to the right. I don’t think that was supposed to happen? Interesting idea with the super slow movement though. Way to give the player what they weren’t expecting at the start

  9. I really enjoyed this! Very Zen, and the voiceovers and music really added to the reflective atmosphere of the game. At times I was frustrated by the lack of movement but I suppose that that’s intentional. The part where you have a bunch of inverse ‘yous’ was really neat, too.

  10. This is cool! i like the abstract background, and the pace is great.

i didn’t listen carefully to everything that was said but it’s a very relaxing game
