Assignment 3 – Tree of Happiness

Play here.  This is sadly more of a prototype than a finished product, but I intended to have more objects to interact with and ways to combine objects to get different endings.  Also missing is a lot of the dialogue explaining why it’s called a tree of happiness, but it had to be cut due to lack of time.  Sorry :\ (Also flash obnoxiously would not let me import my background music, so you get some awkward silence instead….)

Assignment 3 – Two Games

Original Game:

The purpose of this game is to explore the objects in a train compartment. Because the images aren’t vectors, this is best played at around 1100×550 pixels in size (resize your browser window).

Black World (Assignment 3)

There are a few things I would like to go back and add/fix to make the world more consistent but this is the gist of it.  For instance, I would like to have the cloud in the water move with the other reflected items and I’d like to find a way to make the game playable without the forced lateral movements and the outlines (I could just make the outlines invisible but I don’t think that would really help that much because the movements would still be very orthogonal).  Any suggestions for improvement are welcome.

Assignment 3 Progress

Yes. I have done loads of work on this thing. I went from nothing to almost 60% of the content in 2 days. Below are images of the key parts of the game. These images all have animations associated with them that are either done or a few (5) frames from completion.

The game is about feeding a small and cute machine looking organism this chocolate that comes out of eggs from the forest. The Brown color scheme has influenced palette, concept and puzzles.

There will be 2 sequenced based puzzles in the game and the player should be able to solve and play this game in less than 20 seconds. If you pick the wrong sequence you lose and the game is over because the small cute thing dies a tragic death.
